Wow- how are you doing?  My question for you is: Where the heck has October gone????

We launched our Zero to $100 Million Dollar Contest on Oct. 2nd, and things have been crazy ever since.  So far we have had over 51 K people sign up for a chance to win the Brand New Corvette. Pretty Exciting.

Thanks to all of you who have promoted the contest.  It has been alot of fun.  We crack up watching different videos that have been submitted.  If you are participating, remember to continue blogging about your experience.   We have already given away a brand new 42 inch Plasma HDTV, and have 5 more prizes to give away!!!

I also want to tell you about our new Re-Launch for our 12 Month Internet Millionaire Program.  Do you remember hearing about this last year?  We actually set a clickbank record for sales last year with this program.

How was your Long Weekend?  I was BUSY moving into our new home, so it was crazy.

Ok so I have some Breaking NEWS:

I was on a call this morning where Stu Mclaren and Russell were planning and talking about their upcoming Affiliate Incubator Seminar.  (Stu lives up in Ontario, Canada, and of course we are here in our offices in Boise.)

Stu and Russell were talking about who was going to be speaking, and the guests who have already registered to attend.  I must say- It sounds really great!  These speakers speak twice so you can really get to spend time with them. This is the 3nd time I have attended this event.  The first one was held in Salt Lake City UT, then Last year Anaheim CA, and finally this year Dallas Texas.

As an affiliate, whether or not to attend is really a no- brainer.  You see I attend this event every not just because we co-host it with Stu, but because I get to network and learn from Affiliates who are making alot of money.  These affiliates share with those attending their secrets to making Huge Affiliate Commissions.

I interrupted Stu and Russell and asked if I could get a discount for our affiliates.  Stu and Russell started to think about this. You see they have some hard costs that they need to pay for such as hotel space, handouts and staffing costs.  I thought that they might allow for a 50% discount or something.  After putting their heads together, they came up with a FREE VIP discount for our affiliates.  Yup, that’s what I said- Free.

Hey everyone,

This morning we had a great training show.  I had Derek Faylor as my “special” guest.  He runs Russell’s PPC advertising here at DotComSecrets.  Before the live training show, Derek and I were chatting.  I told him to keep it all pretty basic, as I didn’t want to go over anyone’s head.

Derek started talking about how our affiliates can create a squeeze page in a “Sub” niche and still be able to promote Russell’s products.  As an example, think about creating a squeeze page/review site comparing different online university programs.  So you create a keyword list and bid on those keywords.  When the subscriber gets to the site, you have information about the programs as well as some of Russell’s products teaching a Money Making Degree.

The reason for looking at different sub niches is to help you find keywords that are cheaper than the keywords focusing on Making Money Online.  Those words are expensive.

Pretty cool idea.

I was blown away when Chris in our office said that one of my posts from January was #1 in google for the search terms “Affiliate Marketing Rocks”.  Seriously, go check it out in google.  He said that we have had traffic to our blog as a result.  I used the same keywords in this post to see what happens…

If you do not have a blog, what are you waiting for.  This is an obvious example of driving traffic.  The funniest thing is that this was totally unintentional.  Chris is the SEO guy who takes care of this in our company, so it was cool to hear the news.

Are you doing anything intentional (or unintentional) to bring traffic to your affiliate links?  I am curious to hear the strategies from you of what is working and what isn’t.  Please post those things that are working for you.

P.S. My family and I area making the 12 hour drive to Alberta Canada to celebrate my 10 Year High School Reunion.  Pretty crazy.  Driving with 2 kids under 3 should be interesting… I am open to any advice so that my wife and I don’t go CRAZY..

The other day I was talking to one of our top affiliates, and they said that they are struggling to reach their sales goals. This affiliate has created squeeze pages, he doing all the web 2.0 stuff and still isn’t seeing the success that he hoped for. After our conversation ended, I began to think about the rest of you. How many of you are in this exact same situation? You are following the steps, yet are not seeing the results.

First off, if you don’t have goals, then you need to set some. You need something to work towards. I advised this affiliate to set smaller specific goals. Have you ever heard of S.M.A.R.T Goals? Specific, Measurable, Attainable, Realistic, and Timely. Put your own goals to the test. If you are only selling 1 or 2 of our products a week, don’t set a goal of selling 1000 products a week. Maybe increase your goal to 100. With that increase, you need to identify the steps that are necessary in achieving that goal. Are you squandering your time online?

Heck even as a am writing this post, I am reflecting on my own goals. I have been falling short in certain areas, so I need to make some adjustments…

Here are some goals you should consider:

How many clicks?

How many sales?

How often are you emailing?

Look at your account in our affiliate center (www.thesecondtier.com). You will see an asension model. Do you want to be a Super Affiliate? If you are a new affiliate, maybe you set your initial goal to sell $500 of our products so that you can become a “novice affiliate”. Immediately setting your goal to be a Super Affiliate if you are new, and have a small email list might be pushing it. Even though I would love to see as many of you get there as possible!!!

I know that having proper goals, will help you attain the next level in your business.
